Review: HHN's Love Minerals Blush in Pink Quartz

Good evening, ladies!  I hope everyone's safe and sound from the stormy weather yesterday and today.  As for me, my flight out to Palawan got cancelled.   I wanted to go home and sleep again, because I woke up really early, but the coding scheme was back so I just stayed in the office.  I wanted to do my blogging there, but I didn't bring my USB cord, so I'm doing it now before going to bed.  Hopefully, tomorrow will be a brighter weather so we can finally go to Palawan (although, I'm also secretly happy we got cancelled- hehe).

Back to my blogging, this review will give the spotlight to Human Heart Nature's Love Minerals blush in Pink Quartz.  Out of all the three shades from their makeup line, this is the shade I liked the most so I tried it out first.

Let's begin.

FACTS:

Place bought:  HHN's Commonwealth Branch/Main Office.  However, this is also available in Beauty Bar, Rustan's and from HHN dealers.
Price:  225.00 PHP
Packaging:  Comes in a box, and housed in a gold, round plastic pot.
Shade: Pink Quartz - it appears like a muddy pink on the pan, with some shimmers on it.

Here are more photos.

The Framed Makeup Look

With the storm blowing killer winds outside our office building and while still gathering up my guts to brave driving around the windy highways of the Metro, I'm here sitting infront of my office PC, doing some blogging first.  I still have a trip tomorrow to Palawan again. But with this typhoon still doing its landfall, I'm doubting if we'll ever be able to fly out tomorrow.

Anyways, moving on to blog about beauty...

In this makeup look, I'm focusing on how I do my makeup underneath my eyeglasses. Hence, the title of this post.  I began wearing eyeglasses when I got into law school.  Reading cases and staying up late studying all night had its toll on my eyes, so I went from 1.00 grade to 3.00 today.  I do wear contact lenses everyday, as evidenced in my FOTDs here.  But when my eyes are tired or I'm too lazy to fuss over wearing my contacts, I just stick to my reliable glasses.  I've used over 5-6 frames already, some got broken, some got dirty, and I also almost lost one.  Right now, I have 3 different frames.  But my most favorite is the one I got on sale from Sarabia Optical - my purple frames.  As you can see, it's the one I always wear lately.  It costs only 600 PHP, including the lenses! Cheap right?

Wearing eyeglasses, some girls just skip wearing any makeup altogether.  It could be bothersome too, as a girl would look like a geek anyway, with the frames covering her entire face.  But for me, wearing my frames is not an excuse not to be pretty.

Review: Maybelline's Watershine Pure Lipstick in P11

trying out photos with text effects

Heya..how's Typhoon Pedring keeping up with you so far?  As for me, I usually hate the rain. But when the weather becomes cold like now, I'm not complaining anymore. Especially if I can just cozy up under my blanket and snooze all day. How I wish I could do that all week!

Oh well, enough of that. Let's move on to my review for today's post.

FACTS:

Place bought:  Robinson's Galleria Department Store, Beauty Section
Price:  around 299++ PHP.  But I remember that I got this when Maybelline was having a sale and I hoarded products from their counters. I even posted about that in my personal blog here.  Hehe.
Packaging:  Comes in a silver, metallic tube, which is so sleek & shiny but doesn't attract fingerprints too much.
Shade:  P11 is a nude pink shade.  It's also very light pink, that the color doesn't really show up in one swipe.

Let's take a closer look...

Strong Brows for Friday

For today, I'm copying Katie Holmes' strong brows and soft makeup with subdued highlighters in her Kamiseta billboards.  Have you seen this pretty photo of her from Kamiseta's website?

Pretty right?

Well, here's my version of pretty. Hehe.  But I used more pinks, instead of peach on the cheeks.

Ellana Minerals Powder Foundation in Hazelnut Latte,
The Face Shop's Dewy Flower Moist Loose Powder

I love doing my brows nowadays.  It really pulls together the whole look.  Did you think I copied Katie well?

Review: Human Nature's Love Minerals Natural Sheer Lip Soother in Island Kiss

Hey hey there! Here's another product review for you.

I've been advocating the brand Human ♥Heart♥ Nature for a while now, and since I became a dealer, I had first-hand access to all the great products it offers.  I have yet to make a review of the mineral-based makeup that the brand offers, but for now, let me introduce you to a lip product that I've been toting around for a week now.

By the way, did I ever tell you that I'm a lipbalm addict? I think I made a post about that in my other blog.  I have tried different flavors, packaging, and textures.  I have them all around me everywhere I go.  I have two kinds in my purse, I have one on my nightstand, I keep one in the car and in my office drawer. I guess I'm just really hooked on having moisturized lips!

So anyway, moving on...

FACTS:

Place Bought:  Human ♥ Nature Main Office/Branch in Commonwealth, Quezon City (Human Nature products are available from your local dealers/sellers, online, or from their branches nationwide.)
Price:  Regular price is at 69.75 PHP, but I got it in a secret dealer's discount price *wink, wink*.
Packaging: Comes in a regular lipbalm plastic tube, with the label on it.
Shade:  Island Kiss, a reddish-brown shade with a slight shimmer

Review: Kokuryu Summer Cake Foundation in Orange Blush

Hellowee!! Been absent from blogging for the past few days.  I had another work trip out of town, plus I also got sick.  Still have those nasty colds actually.  But since it's my free time now, before I go to bed, let me post a review.

FACTS:

Place bought: SM Megamall's Phil-Cosmetics Expo Bazaar, but I know that this is also available in SM department stores.
Price:  The foundation in 25g costs only 88 PHP. The beauty sponge costs 50 PHP. (Very cheap, right?)
Packaging:  The small white pot comes in a box, and the sponge is encased in a plastic pouch.
Shade:  For a yellow-toned girl like me, my best shade recommended by the SAs was Orange Blush.  At first, it looked sooo orange and scary in the pan, but you'll soon find out that it's not scary at all.  It was also the more popular shade which I've read from GirlTalk and blogs.

Let's see more pics...

Makeup Look I love: Olivia Wilde's Allure Cover Shoot

Starting from this entry, I will be doing a regular feature, posting photos of the current makeup looks that I'm loving and wanted to copy.  I always read and checkout the online versions of some beauty magazines, and is always fascinated with the different runway looks showcased in those sites.  Sometimes, though, I admire how celebrities and their makeup artists are able to create really lovely and amazing looks.

For this entry, let's take a look at Olivia Wilde's cover shoot for the US magazine Allure.

(all photo credits belong to Allure)

I love the ethereal, fairy-like appeal this photo exudes. Soft makeup hues like the warm peachy-pink blush and the pink eyeshadows blended well into her skin looked very natural.  Nude lips complemented the look really well.  According to the article in the website, the photo shoot was done outside a Malibu house and  that "Hairstylist Ken O'Rourke made Wilde a wreath out of flowers from its surrounding fields."  Those pretty flowers on her head sure added a hippie yet ethereal appeal.

Frugal Friday

Hi ladies! My theme song for the day is the song by Rebecca Black. Oh yeah, let's get down on Friday! I bet you can almost hear the sounds of that song in your head right now too. Haha.

It's a Friday office day, but my boss isn't around. So while pretending to be studying some stuff, or before I really go into that, it's time for another makeup look.  Teehee.

In this FOTD, my title says "frugal" because most of the products I used here are so dirt cheap.

Wishing for these NYX Round Lipstick Shades

Ok, I'm officially hooked.  Ever since I visited the booth of Digital Traincase and bought some NYX Round Lipsticks, I wanted to have more!

The creamy consistency and pigmentation got me at just one swipe, literally.  I will be posting reviews of the lipsticks I bought soon.  But for now, I just wanted to share some of the shades that I wanna add to my collection.  This is the result of pure boredom from the very boring document I've been staring at for hours. Lol!

Fave Looks from the Star Magic Ball 2011

I love balls, proms, awards shows and any event that requires people to dress up to the nines. Sometimes, when I watch the Oscars, it wasn't so much on who won the Best Actress title, or which was Best Film of the year.  Although those details are of equal importance, I find the celebrities' many different looks and styles of great importance as well.

Hence, the recent Star Magic Ball held by the giant network ABS-CBN made me sit up and study each of the celebrities' looks for that night.  Held at the Peninsula Hotel, it was indeed like "magic", as most of the ladies looked like princesses and queens straight from a fairy tale.  However, if we had our own Fashion Police show here in the PH, like what the US have on E! network, some of them will have their taste of lambastings and insults based on what they decided to wear on that fateful night.  I, for one, had my own bad comments about some of the not-so-tasteful get-ups for the event.  But in the spirit of the magic ball, I will just clue you in on the prettiest, loveliest, most elegant and inspiring looks for that night (well, in my opinion, that is).

Warning: Photo-heavy. :)

My haul from the Phil-Cosmetics Expo

Yesterday was the end of a busy week.  And what better way to deal with stress than to check out and buy new makeup! At equally cheap prices, I was in for a treat.  Thanks to the beauty bloggers I've been following, I was able to catch news about this event.  So off I went to SM Megamall, Megatrade Hall, right after work!

The place was really great, but this is the only shot I was able take of it.  I got so busy checkin out the stuffs, I forgot I had my camera with me.  There was also a hair & makeup contest taking place, and I got mesmerized by the pretty models who flaunted the center stage.

Actually, my main purpose in checkin out the event was to buy some NYX lippies from Digital Traincase, which has a booth there.  I didn't want to spend extra for shipping by ordering online, so I thought it was waay better to just see the items on sale for the expo.  Besides, I was able to see the real colors of the round lipsticks pretty well.  I was also more after buying those soft matte lip creams, which ever since I've read from other beauty bloggers, I wanted to have all the colors myself.  Too bad, they weren't available yesterday yet.  The SA said the package for the new items haven't arrived yet.  Hopefully, they'll be available by Sunday.  Sadly, I was only able to get one shade in London.

Here are my haul photos:

I also got a new magazine, but not from the expo though.
Soft matte lip cream in London (330 PHP); Round lipsticks in Sash, Power and Pink Lyric (150 PHP each)

Eyebrow powder from the US brand Eyebrowz (350 PHP)

Summer cake foundation from Kokuryu + beauty sponge (88 PHP + 53 PHP)

I'm quite excited to try out my new lipsticks from NYX! I tried the lip cream when I got home, it was a pretty nude color, perfect for the office! Though I still wish I can get more shades of that.  As for the eyebrow powder, I saw this from the booth of Dollface, where they sell huge palettes of eyeshadows, blushes & concealers.  I was always looking for a good eyebrow powder, because I find it easier to use than wax or pencil.  I think I got a good deal there, plus they also sell online thru Multiply, which is good if ever I liked it and wanted more.  And lastly, I got the cake foundation from Kokuryu in Orange Blush shade.  It's a different kind of foundation where one uses a wet sponge to apply it.  I find it interesting (and cheap too!), based on the reviews I read from GIRLTalk.  Still got to try it out though.

By the way, the Expo runs until tomorrow only, so better check out the great deals soon.

That's it for now. See yah!

Haul: Retail Therapy or Beauty Therapy?

I'm posting another entry, before the day ends! I'm thinking I have to do my blog posts now, because I have a sinking feeling that I'll be so damn busy for the rest of the week, even until the weekend! =((

This is just a quick post about the haul I did during the long weekend.  What's the best cure for the weary and tired soul? Retail therapy! or in my case, beauty therapy - 'cause I bought cheap makeup just on a whim.

But first, let me say thanks to the blog sale held by Martha of The Beauty Junkee Eats Lipstick, because I was able to get a new MAC blush for just 500 PHP (well, plus shipping, so that's 570 PHP, but still cheap yo!)

MAC Peachykeen Blush + a sample moisturizer (thanks for that too, Martha! )
