Eyebrowz Medium Brown Brow Powder
NYX Eyeshadow Palette in Versus (using the brown & highlighter shades)
MAC Twists of Tartan Palette (using the burgundy shade for the crease)
MAC Fluidline in Dipdown
Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Mascara

Gluta & Placenta BB Cream
Human Heart Nature Mineral Powder Foundation in Island Shell

NYX Round Lipstick in Power

Being always on the safe side of things when it comes to my eye makeup, this is my first time to try a winged eye makeup look.  As you know, this kind of look will not be appropriate at all in my kind of job. But hey, since it's a long weekend and it's almost halloween, there's no stopping me from wearing this.  Although it's a bit messy, I think I can get the hang of this and soon, I will be able to perfect it.  Hmm, maybe I'll try a more daring look for tomorrow's Halloween..

Payday Treats from Pure Beauty

Heya! Just a quick post of new goodies.  It's payday and a long weekend to boot, so it's time for some treats!  It's actually my first time to visit the Pure Beauty store in Serendra. I always see it when I go there, but never really went inside.  So awhile ago, while letting the rest of the Metro Manila traffic pass through the roads and before deciding to plunge into those messy jams, I took my time exploring the store.  It's a white, clean and crisp beauty store that sells makeup and beauty brands that are usually only available abroad.  They have NYX, Ben Nye, MUD, and others.  But for the NYX products, they kinda marked up the price a bit.  There aren't a lot of the round lipstick shades available, too.

So, anyways... here's my small haul:

1.  Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder (299 PHP)
2. Charm Retractable Kabuki Brush in Gold (580 PHP)

I heard a lot of great raves for the Ben Nye Luxury Powder, so I was curious to see how it'll work for me.  I'm just not so sure if the price was a good deal or not, but for 1.02 oz of powder, I think the price is reasonable.  And the real reason why I went to Pure Beauty was really to get Charm's retractable kabuki brush.  Again, I did my research and almost all the beauty bloggers I follow highly recommend this one.

As usual, I will post my respective reviews as soon as I can.

Have a good night!

*The Pure Beauty Store is located at the second floor of Serendra, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.  It's the side facing Market, Market.

Review: MAC's Peachykeen Sheertone Shimmer Blush

I've been wanting to post a review on this for the longest time since I got this blush.  But the wait is over, I'm now ready to make a review.

Place bought:  I got this from a Blog Sale made by Martha of The Beauty Junkee Eats Lipstick. To know how I was able to purchase this, click here.  But this is available in MAC counters and online.

Price:  Regular Price is about 1,000 PHP or $19.50. But since I got mine from a blog sale, I only paid 500 PHP for this. Almost half the original price. (Neat, huh?)

Packaging:  Comes in the usual MAC blush casing in a black compact.  The size is enough to fit into your makeup kits. I didn't have this in its original box, though.

Shade:  Peachykeen is a warm peach shimmer blush that goes on very sheer.   It has tiny gold specks in it, too.  However, it appears like a muddy dark peach in the pan.

More photos coming up!

What's your Signature Look?

For every makeup enthusiast or addict, there is probably that one feature of the face that she always loves to highlight.  And for that one particular feature, there is always that signature look or makeup look that complements it.  Be it the lips, the eyes, the eyebrows, or the cheekbones, the makeup addict, who's obsessed about always looking fabulous no matter the time of the day or the time of the month, wouldn't be ever caught dead going out into the streets and forgetting to polish up her most favored face feature.

Speaking for myself, I think that my signature look has come to evolve as the years passed by, and as I become more and more knowledgeable (and not to mention, FASCINATED) with makeup.  In my college days, which were also the time that I was first involved in doing my makeup, my signature look would have been my rosy cheekbones. Thanks to our mom's beauty stash, I was introduced to my first ever blush from Revlon.  I shared that one with my sister, and together, we were known to be the trendsetters (at least, in our own circle of friends) for having that rosy cheeks look.  As the years went by, I moved on to cheek stains in deep berry shades, like the ones from Herbench and the cult favorite, Benetint.

Cheap Find: Hair Fragrance from Saizen

You know how we always end up feeling and smelling sweaty and icky after a day's work?  And most of that icky smell usually comes from our sweaty scalp.  I hate it when my hair smells bad. Sometimes, it could smell of food, too, after spending hours eating in a restaurant.  Or sometimes, when you have company who smokes cigarettes like there's no tomorrow (no offense intended), even if you didn't do a single puff, your hair ends up absorbing all those cigarette smoke.  So what I usually do is spray my hair with my perfume or cologne, just to get rid of the unpleasant scent.

But I found something much much better. And way way cheaper, too.

Presenting: a refreshing hair fragrance from Saizen

Comes in a 50ml plastic bottle

Pampering Day

Thank God for the weekends!!! I cannot express just how much I enjoy it when I wake up early in the morning only to realize that it's actually a Saturday.  How cozy and happy it is to lay back on my bed and sleep some more until lunchtime, or until I'm not lazy enough to do my errands.  For today, my only errands were to pay the bills and have my new laptop fixed, so I just left the house at around 3pm.  After doing my thing, I realized that it's about time to treat myself for some feet pampering.  It's been a while since I visited my favorite nail salon - Posh Nails, so I was really glad I did today.

At Posh Nails salon in Ali Mall, Cubao

OPI Nail Lacquers to choose from

I chose this shade - Deep violet and almost black.  I forgot the name of the shade, though.

The final work by Ate Letty.  The shade makes my feet appear whiter, dontchathink?

I love it when my toenails are fully polished.  I used to have my nails done every two weeks, or at least, once a month.  But I came to realize just how expensive it is to pamper myself because I usually go the whole way, you know, complete with a foot spa or a foot scrub and all.  But with my many expenses nowadays, I really can't afford the luxury of having my nails professionally done all the time.  However for today, I just had to do it, even just for my toenails.  Do you know how relaxing and stress-relieving it is to just sit down and have somebody do everything for you?  Well, I just really needed to release my stress.  I think having my nails done is way better than some retail therapy.  But then again, that's just me.

After my gig at the nail salon, I decided to go all-out in my pampering day.  So I went home today to try out my new facial mask from Garnier.  As I'm typing this post now, I just finished doing my face.  And I tell ya, it felt really great.  Now off to get more beauty sleep.

To end, here's a photo of my products used for my face today:

My trusty Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Wash, HHN's Balancing Face Toner, Garnier Pure Self-Heating Sauna Mask (reviewing this soon!), and Celeteque Moisturizer

Ok, time to doze off now.  Goodnight and I hope you're having a blast.
See yah!!

Lauren Conrad's Peach Hair Tips

Credits go to Allure
Finally, it's Friday and weekend is here! How's your Friday going on so far?

For this entry, I'm sharing a photo of Lauren Conrad's new hair color.  If you always browse Hollywood style websites, you definitely are aware that Lauren has always been quite adventurous when it comes to dye-ing her hair, or more specifically, her hair tips.  She has been seen having magenta and blue colors popping at her hair ends.  And now, she's trying out something new, and something extra pretty and sweet. Her hair tips are now peach!  Her blonde hair strands transitioning into peachy-pink hues at the end is just really so pretty.

Ain't her hair so cute?  Makes me wish I had blonde hair, too. Haha! I once tried dye-ing my left side bangs way back during law school days.  It was reddish pink.  It became a hit at school, my classmates liked it.  But it turned out to be a wrong move, too, because it made me more recognizable by our professors.  That means, always being one of the firsts to recite! But I still miss rocking that hair style, though.  Hey, but maybe since the Holiday season is coming up, maybe it's time to don some dyes on my hair once again.  However, it has to be really age appropriate and the color has to be subtle to be acceptable in my profession.  Hmm...let me think about that more.

Anyways, going back to Lauren, are you a fan of hers? Were you able to watch her in her reality tv series? I like her a bit, but more about liking her style. And she wears red lips really well.  Oh, and lastly, did you know that she has her own blog, too? Well, I always check out her page, it's really nice and lovely. If you wanna check it out yourself, click here.  And here's a screenshot of it:

Yeah, ok, I'm a fan. hehe.

So...that's about it for now.  Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend, ladies!

The BDJ 2012 Planner Event

my new BDJ 2012 power planner

Where:  Eastwood Mall Open Park
When: 16 October 2012, 2pm-10pm
What:  Belle de Jour 2012 Power Planner Launch Event

It was such a hot and humid day today. But I was determined to attend the event, because the planners were on sale. From 580 PHP, it was on sale for only 480 PHP. Not bad, I guess. Plus, I got to bring home some goodies too. So right after grocery shopping, I drove straight to Eastwood. The event was packed with many girls taking photos and taking part in the activity booths.  My friend Jam and I just roamed around to see what else can we get to make the entrance fee of 50PHP more worth it, aside from getting planners.

So here's a few shots I took:

Meet Betsy, the cute pink Beetle from the Etude House booth

The booth where the planners are available

featuring the BDJ 2012 Power Planner and Dr.Mom planner

I was a happy girl going home.  Although it was sweaty and crowded going through the booths, it was still fun.  It was a good Sunday indeed.

Here are the goodies I got:  LED Flashlight for winning a game from Strip; Ace Water Spa privilege card for winning a prize from the booth; and Etude House's Peel so Good sample facial foam for winning a prize also from their booth

Well, that's about it for now. Till my next post!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In both photos, wearing Revlon's matte lipstick in Stormy Pink.

Let's support Karen's project!

I've been a loyal fan of Karen's fabulous blog for almost two years now.  It's from her that I learned how to appreciate colors in makeup.  And it's also a great thing to know that she's a fellow Filipina (and damn proud of it!).  Her blog is popular and hugely influential internationally among all makeup fans and bloggers. For me, she's my ultimate makeup guru. I also have her blog linked to my site, for instant access.

But other than that, I'm also posting this to support, not only her blog, but also her project to promote Breast Cancer Awareness.  This is close to my heart personally, as I have relatives and friends who suffered through this.  I'm totally aware of this cause, because being a woman, I'm not exempted from having this too.

If you wanna join Karen's cause, show her some love and send her your sign too! Here's the link to her post:

Plus, sending her your photo with your personal sign might get you a chance to win some awesome makeup from MAC, Clinique, Make Up For Ever, Estée Lauder and Bobbi Brown. Now, isn't that something for a great cause?

I now have this sign permanently posted on my message board in my office, too.

You may send your photos to Karen until the 31st of October 2011. It's also open internationally.

Let's spread the word about Breast Cancer!

Review: Shawill's Retractable Face Powder Brush

Shawill is a new brand to me.  According to GirlTalkers, this is a brand made from China.  There is that notion going on that China-made makeup products aren't safe for the skin.  I don't know about that, I guess it also depends on how the products react to our different skin conditions.  However, I made some Googling and stumbled upon their website. It is a local brand, but the print on some of its products are in Korean.  So I'm still really confused as to the origin of the brand.

But this post isn't about the makeup products per se of Shawill. I will only review the retractable face brush that I bought.  Out of emergency purposes because of my constant work trips, I had to buy a new face brush a few weeks ago, because the one I use from Nichido began to become scratchy and the one from Estee Lauder smells kinda funky after washing it a few times.  So while it's still drying, I desperately needed to get a spare.

So during my trip to Watson's, I found this.

Let's go to my review.

Place Bought: Watson's, Market Market Mall, Taguig
Price:  150 PHP (about $2-3)
Packaging:  It comes in a black shiny tube, with white and pink dots on it. It's pretty cute.

Let's see a closer look.

LANEIGE Makeup Workshop

with my loot bag from Laneige

with brand ambassador: Actress Song Hye Kyo of Full House fame (in case you can't remember)

Where:  Shangrila Plaza Mall, 3rd floor, Laneige store
When: 10 October 2011
What:  A makeup/beauty/skincare workshop, featuring Laneige's products

I'm one very lucky blogger to be part of this event.  I just saw the tweet of my good friend way back in college that her friend was looking for beauty bloggers. I DM'ed her and asked about the details. So needless to say, thanks to her and to Ms. Katherine Baylon, Senior Assistant Brand Manager of Laneige, I was invited via email.

The event featured their own famous makeup artist named Mr. Min Hyuk Park, who showed us how the Koreans maintain their fairly good skin and how to apply makeup.  Despite his inability to speak English, and thanks to an interpreter, we were able to see how the model transformed into one pretty lady (although she was already pretty sans makeup).

Let me warn you, this post is gonna be photo-heavy. I just got carried away taking photos, it being my first blogger event. Hehe.

Here are some of the makeup products of Laneige:

pretty-hued eyeshadows

Snow Crystal Moisture Lipstick shades

My Freebies from the Laneige Beauty Event

First off, let me tell you that attending a beauty/makeup event is beyond my expectations from being a newbie beauty blogger.  I was simply enjoying writing about makeup and reviewing products for my own personal hobby/pleasure/past time.  So I was excited to know about the event via Twitter, through my college friend.  With her connections and all, finally, I was emailed an invite to this exclusive event.  I will actually do a separate post for that, since I have so many photos taken during the event. I really enjoyed the whole experience, although it was already fun being on leave from work in itself.  It was also fun meeting some fellow beauty bloggers and makeup enthusiasts like me.

Laneige is a high-end Korean beauty and makeup brand.  The word "Laneige" actually means "snow" in French.  Most of their products focuses on giving moisturization and hydration to the skin, revealing a natural and luscious glow from within.  The brand infuses science and beauty by incorporating the study of snow and water into creating amazing skin care products.

Since I'm still editing some of the photos I took during the event, for now, I will just show off the pretty stuff I got from Laneige.

I got this cool makeup bag, with all the free goodies inside.

how the bag looks like inside- lotsa compartments!

New products from HHN

As you know, I'm a dealer of Human Heart Nature products so as such, I have immediate access to their new products.  Right now, they are improving their makeup line.  Thus, they now have newly-improved powder foundations, blushes, lipsticks and something new, lip glosses. Every product is still guaranteed to be made only of good natural ingredients and minerals, ensuring that there are very safe for the skin. I have posted a previous review about HHN's mineral blush in Pink Quartz, and I mentioned how the scent it exudes was somewhat unpleasant.  But now, they have newly-formulated blushes, plus a new shade, too!  I'll try to have reviews of some of these new items, but for now, here are some eye candies for you.

newly formulated mineral powder foundations in a new packaging

new packaging for the blushes, plus this new shade - Rosy Cheeks, which is a pink matte powder blush

Review: Maybelline Watershine Pure Lipstick in MF21

I seem to be having a liking to Maybelline Watershine Lipsticks.  Last Sunday, when I went to pay the bills at SM Cubao, I didn't realize that there was a mallwide sale going on.  So when I checked out the Beauty Section, I found out that Maybelline was having a 20% off for all items.  At first, I wanted to try the new Cover Girl Lipsticks that are very very pigmented. However, they weren't on sale and each cost a hundred bucks more than Maybelline's.  Needless to say, I just settled for three Maybelline lippies.  Among the 3, here's my favorite. So let's go to the review:

Place bought:  SM Cubao Department Store, Beauty/Watson's Section
Price:  Regular Price is 299.00 PHP, but since it was on sale, I got it for only 239.00 PHP. Not bad right?
Packaging: Still the same silver, mirror-like twist up tube.
Shade: The shade is called MF21.  I wish they can come up with more creative shade names, instead of just mere codes. It's kinda confusing.

I miss my curls

This picture of Diane Kruger made me travel back to the days when I still had my long curls. Actually, that was only last year.

I had my long curls for almost two years.  It was my solution to having volumized hair, because my hair is baby thin, making it look flat and limp.  I enjoyed having long curls for awhile as it had been such an attention-getter.  Since my hair is ash-brown in color, when light hits my head, my hair shines like it's a bit gold.  I love it when I get compliments from people, especially from guys.  Hence, I used to think that it gave me that extra-sexy appeal, too.  (Hehe.)

But having long curls isn't all that fab, mind you.  I had to use a different shampoo made especially for curly hair.  Plus, I need a lot of moisturizing conditioner.  After shower, I was careful not to rub my hair too much upon drying.  A simple pressing of the towel is enough.  And then, before combing my hair, I had to put another product - either a volumizing mousse, a hair cream, or a simple hair gel - just enough to keep my curls in tact and to avoid frizzing.   The only perk is that I need not use the blowdryer anymore, as curls look better when they're air-dried.  I also skip combing over my strands too much, because running my fingers through them would do.
