Facepainting Day

Hey, Girls! Today is Bonifacio Day. It’s a national holiday, which means no work for me! So instead, I went to attend the birthday party of the son of my friend. It’s a kiddie party, and it was also my first facepainting gig.  It was so fun, I didn’t realize how sweaty my face was.

The theme of the party was Sesame Street.  The place was very well decorated.  Here are some photos to document my gig.

lots of Elmo floating around
Since it was my first try at facepainting art, I didn't want to invest too much on my materials, so I just relied on what's available in our local bookstores/art shops.  I also used some of my own makeup, like blush, eye shadows, eye pencils and some brushes and sponges.  I also created my own portfolio, which is the purple plastic folder filled with simple designs that I can do.

Review: Sivanna Face Shining Bake Powder

Heya, girls! Sorry for not posting as much as I was able to do before.  I really aim to blog at least once a day.  However, life and work gets in the way.  I am so swamped right now, and being in this state of too much stress is creating such a dent in my wallet.  For proof, just last week, I was able to buy my first NARS blush – all in just a whim! But I won’t spill anything about that, as it deserves its own special entry.

So anyway, let’s move on with my review for today.  This is a blush review, featuring a brand that originates from Bangkok, Thailand: Sivanna Cosmetics.  I got this blush as part of a makeup stash as “pasalubong” or gifts from my Tita’s recent Bangkok trip.  I chose to review this first, because it is the most interesting in the bunch.

Place bought:  Boots Pharmacy in Bangkok, Thailand
Price:  Honestly, I really don’t know.  But I will get back on that after further research.
Packaging:  Encased in a round blush compact that is the size of a normal face powder.  Think of a MAC blush, only it’s larger.
Shade:  at the back of the casing, it says “04”.  For me, that translates to a light pink and slightly peach shade with warm undertones, with lots and lots of shimmer due to the striped white shimmer powders that comes with it.  It’s a baked blush, so the colors tend to be mixed.

More photos after the jump!

Birthday Wishlist

It's that time of the year again, where everyone in the world celebrates my birthday with me! Well, just to clue you in, my birthday falls on Christmas Day.  That is why I've always loved the Holidays.  Aside from the endless parties, yummy food, and get-togethers with friends, I also loved receiving gifts.  I have gifts for my birthday, and gifts for Christmas.  But sadly, when your birthday falls on such a very festive moment, some people also tend to forget.  "Oh wells".

But moving on, I'm doing this post just to make a shout out about the things I want for my birthday. More specifically, the makeup that I want to have by the end of the year.

1.  I want a MAC 187 Duo Fibre Face Brush. I know there are local versions and more affordable brushes like these in the market, but hey, I'm just wishing, so might as well go for the gold, right?

2.  MAC Lipsticks.  Any shade, any finish.  I don't own one yet, and whenever I go to the store to ask for a shade, it's always out of stock! Most especially, I want a tube of Ruby Woo and Chatterbox.

3.  NARS Blushes in Oasis and Mata Hari.

4.  Any colorful eyeshadow palette.  I'm done with my lemming for neutral eyeshadows with my NYX Runway Palettes, so now, I'm going for more color. Maybe something from either Dollface, Lulu Makeup, or Coastal Scents.

So that's about all of it.  I wanted some Shu Uemura too, but any of these will already make me so happy.  And oh, a pair of new boots won't hurt, too.

Heya, Ladies! It's another Saturday night, and while I'm being lazy today from too much stuff goin' on, I'm posting another lipstick review.  But this time, I'm showcasing these two lovely shades from Human Heart Nature's Love Minerals makeup line - Pink Skies and Earth Angel.

Kiddie Party

Out of sheer fun and just plain craziness, my classmate from lawschool celebrated her 30th birthday party in Mcdonald's.  Yep, you read that right.  It was her "30th Kiddie Party Bash".  Something like the last attempt to be childish and crazy, before hitting the very adult world come the age of thirties.   It was very different from my own party held last year, which turned out to be my Dirty Thirty thing.  And to make things more fun, she required everyone to wear a shirt printed with a cartoon character.  I came with a shirt featuring Betty Cooper.  And because it was supposed to be a fun party, I decided to come with my cat-eye look.

Runway Inspired Black Eyeliner Look

Even on a very sick Saturday, I still managed to do this makeup look inspired by the Philippine Fashion Week held a few weeks ago.

From Gerry Katigbak's Spring/Summer 2012

The Makeup Look: Dark eyeliner, full lashes, strong eyebrows, clean face, bronzer and nude lipstick.

Here are my attempts to copy the look (just the makeup, not the hair though):

Haul from Etude House

Just a quick post for today.

Lately, my skin has been acting up so bad. But I think it was also because it's that time of the month.  But as you've probably read from my previous posts, I have this problem about fixing up my pores.  They seem to be getting larger.  Part of aging? Yeah, probably.  So anyway, I visited the Etude House shop at SM Megamall to find any cheaper alternative to pore minimizing skin care than those sold at the Laneige shop.    Luckily, I found these two:

(1) Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Cream (498 PHP) - works like a cold cream and used for cleansing the face as a makeup remover.  I've been using this for 4 days now - so far, I see the good effects.  But it's still too early to tell and make a review. So better stay tuned for that.

(2) Sleeping Pack (300+ PHP) -  Etude House sells 3 variants of this Sleeping Pack.  I got the one for oil control and pore minimizing.  I figured that since I love the sample I got from Laneige, this could probably be a good dupe.  However, I haven't used this yet.  I'll let you know once I did.

Lastly, I got another eyeliner brush for 178 PHP.  I think I have a thing for eyeliner brushes, I actually have at least 5 of them.  Hmm, I'll make a post about those soon.

Well, that'd be all for now.

Happy Weekend, Ladies!

Review: Majolica Majorca's Perfect Automatic Eyeliner in Gray

Hellowee!! How's the long weekend hittin' you so far? It's only a few hours to go before it'd be another crazy week.  And so, to start off this week, let me share this review.

Place bought:  Majolica Majorca counter, SM Department Store, Makati
Price:  around 650 PHP, I think.
Packaging:  Comes in a twist up stick/tube with an eyeliner brush.  One or two clicks or twists will give enough product to the bristles.
Shade: Gray - grayish hue with some subtle shimmers

Let's see more photos, shall we?

Stackable Lipsticks

I finally found a way to organize and stack my growing pile of lipsticks.

I found this mini-drawer organizer in the Daiso/Japan Home section of SM Supermarket. For only 99 PHP, it's an affordable way to make my lipsticks more visible and more convenient to locate.

Before all my lip products are in here:

Admittedly, it's an awfully difficult way to locate the lipstick that I wanna wear for the day.  So I was really thinking of an easy way to organize without spending too much.

As soon as I saw this new post from MBB, I almost drooled just looking at Karen's photos and swatches of these.  (Check it out here.)

The Lip Surgence Lip Stains are actually part of my wishlist here in my blog. Ooh, I soo wanna have them!

Can anybody from the States gift me this set for my birthday? Halloooo!!!

Happy Halloween!

They say, better late than never. Heck, we all still feel the spookiness of the holidays ayt?  Anyway, this "special edition" of my makeup look post will focus more into...

wait for it...

Yep, you got that right! I'm the middle of trying to dabble into facepainting art.  Both for a mini-business thing and for fun.  So in the last few weeks, I was kinda gathering my materials, doing my research for easy designs, and trying out my luck.  So for this post, I won't be listing the makeup products I used, but instead will let you have a peek at how I managed to come up with pretty decent art.

Hold on to your seats, because here we go!
