Haul: Revlon and Nyx

Yey! Another post for today.  Lately, I've been so busy. We finally moved into our new place, but we're still in the middle of our renovation, so all my stuff are all over my room.  I'm literally sleeping with boxes and bags of stuff beside me.  However, being a makeup addict that I am, I managed to pack my makeup and beauty stuff neatly into one pretty box.  During random trips for house stuffs to the mall and Eastwood, I also managed to score some new items for my collection.

Revlon's Liquid Lipstick (I forgot the shade name!), Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple, and new mascara from Revlon

new Nyx Round Lipsticks in Heather and Doll
' Been hearing lotsa good raves for Revlon's Lip Butters, so I got myself one shade.  I'm trying it out today, and so far, I'm enjoying the smooth texture on my lips.  The liquid lipstick, well, I read somewhere that it works more like a stain, so I wanted to try it out.  I haven't gotten around it yet, and haven't tried the mascara yet, too.  But I will let you know soon.

Oh, here's some trivia: I happen to find out that Revlon's warehouse is just near my office, along Don Chino Roces Avenue Extension.  That was why I saw a sign for a Revlon Warehouse Sale around December last year. Too bad I wasn't able to pay a visit. But now that I know, I'll be watching out for the next sale soon.

As for the NYX lippies, I got them from a tiangge booth at Eastwood for only Php150.00 each! I could have gotten more shades, but I was out of cash already.  I'll probably visit again this weekend, which would be their last week.  They also sell some authentic Benefit items, with cheaper price tags.  Anyway, I was able to wear Heather yesterday at work. All I can say is "like, like, like!".  The color is so appropriate for the office, nothing too loud but nothing too plain either.

Well, that's about it for today. I still have lotsa reviews pending, but I'll get to them soon. Happy Thursday!

My Yakson House Experience

Sometime last year, I was emailed by the owner of Yakson House Makati.  I was asked if I would like to try their services or program in exchange for a blog post or review about them.  I agreed, but I didn't really know anything about such place.  I was given a website, so I can checkout what they have to offer.  So I browsed and Googled, until I learned that Yakson House, which is Korean-based, specializes in bone therapy massage.

Now, what exactly is bone therapy, you may ask? I grabbed this apt description from their website-

" The bone therapy is new field of an aesthetic therapy that was created by the combination of the bone treatment which was invented by the president of YAKSONMYUNGGA and health beauty programs. The bone therapy uses the handcrafts to stimulate the blood flow efficiently. Those stimulated blood flow by the bone therapy perform its ability of nature healing by providing nutrition and cleaning the body wastes. The bone therapy is a natural therapy that makes healthy beauty of face and body shapes. YAKSONMYUNGGA completed its own unique healthy beauty program with experiences and know-how. "
Interesting, huh?  And so, I set my appointment and tried one of their programs, which was the Face Reduction Care.  It's been a while since I had a real facial, and so this was quite similar, except that it came with a bone therapy massage.

did you notice the price? i know, it's quite expensive.

Golden Globes 2012 Red Carpet Looks

It's awards season once again in the other side of the world called Hollywood.  And like most people, aside from knowing which were the best movies for the year, it was also a chance to explore and learn about fashion.  In fact, more than the movies, I am almost more fascinated with the evening gowns, tuxedos, and ravishing makeup looks.  It has always been such a treat to watch these stars walk one by one on that famous red carpet.

And so, here is my own Best Dressed List for the night (all photos from

The quirky and funny Zooey Deschanel chose to embrace her own style, as seen in her TV show. Using bright color green as accents to her dress gives off that funky vibe.

Ooh..Madonna! I heard she made raves at the awards show.  Although there's too much detail in her gown, the shade didn't make it look too over the top. Besides, only Madonna can pull off something like this. I like the simple wavy hair.

The very sexy Sofia Vergara.  First, let me begin that I so love the hairstyle - very simple, yet neat and classy. Her mermaid gown was a great choice for showing off her curves.

Nicole Richie- always the style icon.  I love the glittery gown with a minimalist cut.  Her hair was also understated enough to make her gown be the center of attention.

Another Nicole - Nicole Kidman, that is.  Her gown is so elegant and classy.  I love the gold beaded details which accented her equally golden hair. Matchy-matchy!

Chanelling the 20's vibe that is said to hit 2012's runways, Michelle Williams is both cute and classy. More than her gown, I like the matching headband detail on her pixie cut.

Jessica Biel looks like a bride with that sheer lacy gown.  But I love that it gives off an ethereal and sweet vibe.  Minimal colors on the face and simple hairstyle compliment that "innocent" look.

Another Jessica - Jessica Alba.  It was reported that her daughter told her that her gown looks like a mermaid.  It really does look like it has scales. But I like the color and the details, it accentuates her golden tan skin.

Diana Agron - Glee's resident beauty queen.  Well, that's my opinion.  She really looks pretty and cute in this eyelet red gown, with lotsa tiers. Her matching red lipstick finishes off the whole look. Love!

Finally, the last but definitely not the least, because her look was my favorite of all! Angelina Jolie, beaming with her man Brad Pitt, in a simple-cut white gown with a red detail.  I like the hair, I like the makeup, and I love her figure.  Many voted for her as "best dressed", too. Don't you think so?

Well, that's my take. What about you?  For more information about their designer gowns, log on to

Gold Stars Nail Art & Review of Wish's Mini Nail Art Kit

Check this out:

Wish Nail Art Kit from Watson's

comes with a nail art glue, stick, nail file, and 6 different colored stones

Ain't it pretty? And cheap, too! I have this growing fascination for doing nail art recently. But since I'm still a newbie and would most likely let others do the art for me, I just try to do simple nail art designs.  When I spotted this nail art kit at Watson's the other day, it was so neat that I couldn't let go of it. Plus, it's only for 69PHP! It's a steal, indeed.

So I began using it, but since it's still work week, I decided to do something simple for the office.  Here's what I created:

So far, I still have most of the stars on my nails today. It's only been one day, but I already lost about 3 stars from my right hand, which goes to prove that I use my right hand more often, right?

Here are my initial thoughts on the nail art kit:
1.  The nail glue is difficult to open and dispense.  I didn't bother with it, so I just used clear nail polish to make the little gold stars stick to my nails.
2.  The nail file is decent enough to be used for quick shaping of nails, but it's only made of thick foam.  Better to use your good ol' sturdy nail file instead.
3.  The stick really comes in handy in placing those little things on the nails.
4. I like the variety of designs included in the kit. As of now, I could think of about 5 different designs that I wanted to create using them all.
5. It's cheap, so I have nothing more to complain about.

Well, that's about it. Friday is about to end, and weekend is here again! Enjoy your weekend, ladies!

Nude on Nude

So, how's the first week of 2012 treating you so far? As for me, I'm enjoying the empty highways and less traffic jams going to and from work.  You know, gotta enjoy it until it lasts, because I'm sure that next week, it's really back to normal!  I didn't do much at work today.  Actually, I'm in the middle of thinking how to begin writing some document.  But while doing so, I just remembered that I took a makeup look shot this morning.

Maybelline 8-in-1 BB Cream
Ellana Minerals Powder Foundation in Hazelnut Latte
MAC powder blush in Dame
The Body Shop Shimmer Powder in Rose

NYX Runway Palette in Bohemian Rhapsody
MAC Fluidline in Dipdown
CG Lashblast in Fusion
Eyebrowz Powder in Medium Brown

The Body Shop Vanilla Spice Lip balm
Human Heart Nature Lipstick in Sweet Nectar

"Nude on nude" is actually the name of a palette from NYX. But I decided to use that as my title post, because I'm wearing mostly nudes here.  Even Dame, my new blush from MAC, is such a neutral color, it only works to highlight my cheekbones.   Oh, and it's my first time to experiment with a new brow shape. Can you see the difference?

Ok, back to work now. Till my next post.

I Love Orly's Rage

Currently on my nails, Orly's GEL FX Nail Lacquer in Rage.  It's a sparkly light bronze, almost silver, color, with very small gold glitters.  I wore this for New Year's Eve, and until now, it still doesn't chip.

I like how even if it has glitters and it shimmers, it's still very subtle to be worn at work.  It is only when light touches it that the glitters come to life.  I had my nails done at my favorite nail salon - Posh Nails.  I currently don't own a bottle of this, but seeing how pretty it looks on my nails, I think I will go get myself a bottle.

You girls know how much I love anything shimmery.  I really still got this "bling thing" going on.  I don't know if it's a phase, but I'm still on to it.  Well, at least, I think that makes me younger in thoughts and in style. Lol.

Happy Wednesday!

Review: MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick

the amazing fireworks show at SBMA

To begin my 2012 blogging, I present my first review for 2012.

posing right beside my milk chocolate almonds

The Ruby Woo....

the much-coveted, highly-raved, and almost always "out-of-stock" red lipstick from MAC -

I've always scouted the MAC counters here in our malls whenever I had the time, only to find out that they still didn't have any stock of this lovely warm red retro matte lipstick.  So this was part of my "pasalubong" list that came with the other makeup gifts I got from the US.   I know there are already tons of reviews for this, but hey, I just still wanna share my short and quick review.

Place bought:  MAC store in the US. Also available locally in the PH in our own MAC stores.
Price:  $14.50 USD /  PHP 1,000.00
Packaging:  Housed in the popular MAC lipstick tube.
Shade:  Ruby Woo is a retro matte lipstick in the shade of a yellow-toned warm red.

Let me show you more photos.
